Professor Arnold Schoenberg
Los Angeles 49, California
Dear Professor Schoenberg:
Having returned recently from Europe and finally settling down at
my desk, I want to report to you in connection with the production
schedule of your new version of your Op. 16. Please note that your new
version is now being engraved in England, and I am expecting the proofs
by the end of August, and I will then take the liberty of forwarding them
to you so that you can give your final “O.K.“ before we have the score
printed in the United States.

Would you please be so kind as to ask E. B. Marks to forward to me
one of their regular composer contracts so that I can prepare the contract
for your new version of your Op. 16 which, as you specify, should be on
the basis of the regular E. B. Marks contract, adding to it our “variations“
which we included in our previous correspondence. In the meantime, I am
enclosing herewith my check for $ 200 as payment in advance on future
royalties for performances of your new version of your Op. 16.
